Weight Loss : Kristen Collins

As a teenager growing up in Silver Spring, Maryland, Kristen Collins Clemson regularly dined on greasy fast food with friends. After college, she met her current husband, Bryan, and the custom of dividing large pizzas with him and ordering chicken wings for Sunday night football. His festivals trash caused Kristen to tip the scales at 180 pounds. When Bryan proposed in 2009, was a wake up call for the 25-year-old special-Ed teacher, who pledged to lose weight in its "before being hanged under 5'6.

Change

While shopping for size wedding dresses February 16, 2010, Kristen's mother felt her daughter's misery. Kristen sent an encouraging note, promising support and offering small buy a new suit for the rehearsal dinner. "My mother wanted me to be happy, so that motivated me to do something about my weight," says Kristen. "She told me to do it as a wedding gift to me."

Lifestyle

Kristen cut parts and added fat burning foods such as lean protein, vegetables, high fiber and whole grains to meals. Bryan joined her for daily walks after dinner, and in May 2010, one month after tracking form, Kristen felt loose clothing. Then Bryan suggested jogging her usual route miles, Extra incentive and signed for a 5-K. Kristen increased her night runs through an increase of a mile, and finished his first race proud. She immediately signed up for another and ran from one to two months, until his marriage in November. A month before the big day, was normal in size 6 clothes.

The reward

Before weight loss, Kristen avoided cameras. But he loved to pose for their wedding photos and even rocked a swimsuit two pieces in their honeymoon, openly. "Now I want everyone to see me," he said. "I'm sure you've always wanted."

Kristen Tips

To remain competitive.
"Trying to keep up with my boyfriend pushed me and kept me from skipping workouts. Not want him to hit me."

Take two.

"Vote to keep a new routine for only two weeks. Then becomes a habit, not even thinking about it."

Forget the fads.


"The plans have not worked for me because I felt deprived. Had to learn to eat mostly whole foods in moderation."
